So, to help you find the answers, our dentist is happy to provide the answers to the following commonly asked questions about dental implants in Tucson, Arizona:
Q: What are dental implants?
A: Dental implants are reliable dental restorations that replace your missing teeth and their tooth roots. They are made of a titanium post, an abutment piece and a dental crown, which is your replacement tooth. Your dentist will place the post in the bone socket of the missing tooth. Then, your bone will need to heal around the post. Next, your dentist will attach an abutment piece to the post and will start creating your dental crown. Once your crown is created, it will be attached to the abutment.
Q: How long does it take to place a dental implant?
A: It does require a bit of time to place a dental implant. Typically, three to six months are required to allow the bone to heal around the implant post. Then, one to two weeks are required to make the dental crown. If a bone graft is required before the treatment begins, that adds more time.
Q: How do I know I’m a candidate for a dental implant?
A: You are a candidate for a dental implant if you have a missing tooth and if you have a strong jawbone. However, you can still be a candidate for a dental implant if you have a weak jawbone. You’ll just need a bone graft first. Find out if you’re a good candidate by scheduling an appointment today!
