With gum disease impacting more people each year, it’s a great time to understand about the disease and its signs. We’ve amassed this information on warning signs for you to look at, so please read over it and give us a call for an exam if you sense any of the warning signs in your own oral cavity.
One of the primary signs you should look for is red, tender, swollen or bleeding gums. When the bacteria inflame the gums, they should turn from a pink color to a red one. Receding gums might also be an indicator that your gums are inflamed. While it’s kind of hard to tell what’s initiating bad breath, the underlying cause could very well be gum disease. Additionally, any teeth that look or feel like they could fall out may be a result of inflamed gums. Likewise, any change to the fit of your teeth or dentures might also be a warning sign that you are forming gum disease. If you are unsure about checking for any of these warning signs, we would love to check each of them with you during your next appointment.
